How does it work?

How does it work

FAQ

How does it work?
1. Buy Bid Credits for $0.60 each.
2. Click the Bid Now! - button. Each bid raises the price by $0.01 and resets the timer to 30 seconds. If a deal reaches $2.00 (that´s 200 bids), the timer will speed up and the following bids will reset the clock at only 20 seconds.
3. If no new bids are placed within that time, you win the at the displayed deal price. (Typically over 95% off retail prices!)

PS.
In case you don't win the Deal, you can get all the Credits you used instantly back into your DealDash account, if you use the Buy it Now option to purchase the same model of an identical item for its retail price.

How can I get started?
1.
Click here to sign up for free!
2. Buy Credits and start bidding.
3. Win crazy deals!

How do I bid?
To place a bid, just click the Bid Now! -button. It's as simple as that. This makes you the highest bidder and resets the timer of the deal. If the timer runs out before anyone else places a bid, you win!

What is the BidBuddy?
The BidBuddy allows you to compete for deals even when you don’t have the time to be on your computer, or if your boss is watching over your shoulder ;) It’s also a safe way to make sure you don’t lose the deal if you get distracted or have problems with your internet connection.
Here’s how you use the BidBuddy:
1. Click the red BidBuddy button on the DealBattle page and put as many bids on it as you like.
2. As long as you have bids left in your BidBuddy, it’ll place a bid for you within the last seconds of the deal battle if you’re not the highest bidder. If a bunch of people have bids on their BidBuddies , they’ll take turns placing bids until the bids from all but one BidBuddy run out.
3. If you win with your BidBuddy, the unused Credits will of course be returned into your account.
PS. You can cancel the remaining bids on your BidBuddy whenever you want.

What is the Safe Guard on the BidBuddy off deals?
When activated, the Safe Guard protects you from losing the deal in the BidBuddy off deals in case of network lag by placing one bid at the very last second of the timer. You will have to bid 5 times in the deal to be able to activate the Safe Guard for the first time. Activating the Safe Guard is free, but if the Safe Guard goes off, 2 credits will be taken from your account, and the Safe Guard will automatically deactive. To get your protection back, you will have to bid 25 more times in the DealBattle.

Are your items brand new?
ALL items on the site are brand new, factory sealed and come with standard manufacturer’s warranties. No junk here! We are a licensed reseller with a California State Resale Certificate. Our team works with major retailers to guarantee the coolest selection of items with the lowest prices.

I won! What happens next?
Pay for your deal through your “Won deals” page (found under "My Dashboard"), and you can expect to receive your item soon!

What about shipping?
We try our very best to deliver all items on average within 5 to 20 business days after payment, depending on availability. The Shipping & Handling fees can vary a little different from an item to another. You’ll find the fee on the DealBattle page of each item. We unfortunately cannot ship to POBOXes, sorry guys!

If you’re wondering about the status of your bought item, just throw Dave an email here.

We only ship to the 48 continental states of USA (we don't ship to other countries or to Hawaii and Alaska).

Can I exchange my won deal to Credits?
Yes! This option will be offered to you during the checkout phase. If you choose to exchange the item to Credits, you won't have to pay Shipping & Handling, and will instantly receive the offered Credit amount into your DealDash account. The exchange option is not available for Buy it Now purchases or Credit packs.

What is your return policy?
Please contact Dave and our support team within seven days after you’ve received your item for instructions on how to return your item. We’ll give you the money back you used to buy the item. Any Credits spent bidding will not be returned.

Do I have to pay sales tax?
Sales tax on all physical items (not Credit Deals or Gift Cards) applies to residents of California.

Do I have to pay even if I don’t win the deal?
Long story short: Yes – the money you’ve used to bid on a deal will not be returned to you. However, in case you don't win the Deal, you can get all the Credits you used instantly back into your DealDash account, if you use the Buy it Now option to purchase the same model of an identical item for its retail price.

What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay by credit card, debit card or via PayPal. We accept all Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discovery credit cards, Visa debit cards including Visa Electron as well as Maestro debit cards. We use SSL encryption to make sure that the transactions are 100% secure.

Troubleshooting

When is my stuff here?

We try our very best to deliver all items within 5 to 20 business days after payment, depending on availability. If you’re wondering about the status of your bought item, just throw Dave an email here.

I can't place a bid / the site is running really slow / the counters are freezing!
Don't download or stream any large files while battling for the deals. Also, make sure there are no other computers in your network using your bandwidth and close all other network applications than your internet browser to avoid connection problem. We recommend that you bid at least 5 seconds before the timer reaches zero, and cannot guarantee that your bid is registered in time if you bid during the last seconds.

I want to change my password, update my shipping address or close my account!
You can manage your account details on your “
My Dashboard” –page .

Still lost? No worries! :)

We're more than happy to give you a hand if you need any help, or just wanna say hi! :P Get in touch with Dave and the rest of the support team here.

Zeekler Auctions FAQ

How do I bid here?
1. Register and create an account. We give you 2 free bids just for registering!
2. Buy bids by selecting 'Buy Bids' link on the right hand side of your home page
3. Find a live auction you would like to win.
4. Click BID to place a bid on the auction.
5. You win the auction by being the last person to bid when the timer runs out.

How much do bids cost
Bids cost 80 cents per bid.

Can bids be refunded
No, bids can not be returned once purchased or reversed after they are used.

How do I earn from my referrals?
Free Bids:For every new referral that ends in the registration of a new member: You receive 1 Free Bid. For every referral that ends in a bid pack purchase: You receive 2 additional Free Bids on their first bid pack purchase. Cash Compensation: Please click the "Opportunity" tab on the top menu bar for more details.

How do the auctions work
Every time there is a bid placed the auction goes up by a set amount (typically$0.01 to $0.08). Also, after a bid the time increases a small amount (typically from 5-20seconds) once the timer dips below 30s it will not go back above 30s (sometimes the timer may go slightly above 30s) even if multiple bids are placed. This eliminates 'sniper bidding' and gives everyone a fair chance at winning the auction. You win the auction by being the last person to bid when the time expires.

Is there a reserve on the auction?
Every penny auction starts at $0.01 and continues until the auction ends. Other types of auctions may have reserves in some form. Please check the details of other types of auction to see the rules that apply.

Do you have an autobidder?
Yes, We have A.B.E., our Automated Bid Executive, A.B.E. will bid on your behalf if you book it. See description below.

What is a Reveal Price Auction?
Please note: No Free bids may be used in our reveal auctions.

There are many differences between traditional penny auctions and reveal price auctions. Unlike traditional penny auctions, reveal price auctions do not display the selling price of the item until you click the bid button. In addition to that, reveal price auctions drop from the starting price, which is usually closer to the retail value, and continue to drop with each bid placed until the "reserve" is met. Once the reserve is met, the "Scoop it" button will appear. From that moment forward each bidding member is in the seat of power. Once one member decides "That's MY price! I'll take it!" and clicks the "Scoop It" button, the auction is over.

Beginner Auctions: Beginner auctions are available as part of our commitment to a fair bidding experience for all of our bidders. (See our Fair Bidding Policy for further details) We have created a forum in our "Beginner Auction" section that will only allow New Bidders (who have a win record under 3 wins total) to bid. This allows brand new bidders to "get their feet wet" so to speak...and hopefully stock up on some extra bids - before hitting the higher value, more popular auctions at prime time.

Premier Auctions: Premier Auctions require an initial "entry fee" (anywhere from 3 to 20 bids traditionally) and will post the debit to your bid account upon your first bid. From that point forward, each additional bid is only a single bid entry and all traditional "Penny Auction" rules apply. Premier Auctions are an open auction. Auction entry can occur for any bidder at any point while the auction is active and bidding will continue until the auction is won.

Additional rules and incentives may apply to our Premier Auctions. Please check each Premier Auctions detail page for individual auction details.

What is the difference between a VIP auction and a penny auction?
In a penny auction, you buy bid packs in order to bid. In a VIP. auction, you buy a seat into the auction, and then bid as often as you like with your exclusive VIP bids. You don’t pay any more after buying the seat, unless you win the auction. In that case, you just pay the end price of the auction item plus any other fees that apply.

How does the VIP auction work after I purchase a seat?
Please see each individual VIP auction for details as each auction varies.

Can I cancel my purchase once I have paid for a VIP seat?
No. VIP Seat purchases are final. But, if the auction is cancelled for any reason, seat holders will be issued credits to their bid accounts to be used in other auctions.

Who can participate in the bidding process?
Any member of Zeekler over 18 years of age can participate in any type of auction offered at Zeekler.

Are auction items new?
All items are brand new in the box unless otherwise stated in the auction description.

Do you keep items in stock?
We do keep some items in stock. Other items are drop-shipped direct from the vendor.

I won! Now what?
After you win an auction you will receive an email from Zeekler. That email will describe the item you won and provide a link to to pay for the item and arrange for shipment. You can also view your won auctions under the "Won" tab while logged into your Zeekler account.

Is there a win limit at Zeekler?
Yes, you are limited to 8 wins per month.

Delivery Charges
The delivery charges for each item will be calculated based on item weight and shipping destination, using UPS ground rates as the basis for calculating these charges. Please be aware that in some cases the actual amount that we pay for shipping may be more or less than the amount we charge you. Sometimes we are even able to get free shipping from the vendor who fills the order. When we pay lass than we have charged you, then the difference is used to help offset the cost of placing, tracking and supporting your order. When the actual cost is greater than we have charged you then we will absorb the difference.

Delivery Time
For US: After payment is received and confirmed please allow 5-7 business days for shipping & handling, typically it will be faster. If you have not received your item within this time period please contact us.

International Shipping and Handling times will vary depending on item destination.

Are there computer requirements to use Zeekler?
You can participate in Zeekler with nearly any computer that allows access to the Internet.

We suggest keeping only one window open to maximize your connectivity and Internet speed.

Why hasn't my bid registered on an auction after i clicked 'bid'?

When a situation happens like this watch the price of the item if it jumps from .22 to .27 that means five other people bid at that very moment and the most recent bidder will show. Rarely, users may click 'bid' before an auction hits zero and the auction ends. The most likely explanation for this is a time delay (lag) in the connection from your computer to our server, sometimes caused by your Internet connection being overloaded. This is a problem with the Internet, however here are a few ways to minimize this:

- While bidding, do not download large files or stream videos or music.

- Don't send emails with large files / attachments

- Make sure you are the only one using your Internet connection, the more people using your Internet connection the larger the chance to experience 'lag'

The only sure way to eliminate this problem is to not wait until the last few seconds to bid. We apologize if you experience a problem registering a bid on an auction, please try the above recommendations to help minimize these types of issues.

What happens if the Zeekler Auction site goes down?

An outage, or downtime is an unfortunate and unforeseeable problem with the Internet. When this happens it is not possible to place bids. If this ever happens we will add 10 minutes to the auctions end time so that no bidders are left disadvantaged. During an outage we advise you to refresh your browser until the site is up and running again.

Are Bid packages refundable?

No bid packages are not refundable.

Do you offer a standard warranty or guarantee?

You can bid at Zeekler with full confidence that you will be 100% satisfied, or we will gladly replace any item or items that you return within thirty days of receipt, or refund your purchase price.

After thirty days, most items carry an additional manufacturer's warranty that you will receive with the item.

How does "Scoop It" work?

With Zeekler "Scoop It" feature, you can use all of the bids you have placed on an item towards purchasing it. For example, if you have placed 30 bids on a product that has a "Buy It Now" price of $100 would receive a discount of purchase the item for $76... $100 minus 30 bids at $.80 each equals $76. This feature allows you to protect the amount of bids you invested into an auction as well as giving you the ability to purchase any product we have available for auction at the retail price without ever having posted a bid. Retail prices are subject to vary. "Scoop It" purchases can only be made within 15 minutes of the end of any auction and depend upon product availability.

Is "Scoop It" available on all auctions?

No, not every auction will be available to "Scoop It", although the majority of our auctions will have this feature.

Can Bid Packs won in a auction be used for "Scoop It"?

Yes, bids won in a auction can be used when purchasing an item using our "Scoop It" feature.

Automated Bidding Executive(A.B.E.)

Honest A.B.E. (Automated Bidding Executive) - is your "executive" at the auctions. When you don't have time to stay completely focused on the auction, simply choose your price range and the maximum number of bids you want A.B.E. to use - and put him to work!

  1. Choose an auction you would like to win.
  2. Enter the maximum number of bids you would like to (bid) in that auction.
  3. Enter the price range of the auction you would like A.B.E. to bid for you.
  4. Click "Book"
  5. A.B.E. will start bidding when the clock runs down to /about/ 10 seconds.
  6. If A.B.E. notices the last bidder was also using ABE, then it will bid immediately to speed up the action. Who wants to look at 2 A.B.E. bidding every 10 seconds?.
  • You must book a minimum of 1 bid for A.B.E. to be able to bid.
  • You can only book one A.B.E. at a time. As soon as the first A.B.E. is no longer active, you can book the next A.B.E.
  • Your maximum price has to be at least $0.01 higher than the current auction end price.
  • An A.B.E. booking can be deleted at any point. All unused bids at the time the A.B.E. booking is deleted will be returned to your account.
  • In order to cancel an A.B.E. booking, please click the 'ACTIVE' button in the A.B.E. box and click the Cancel link.
  • When you type the price, do not type the dollar sign.
  • To say you want to bid up to 30 cents, in the 'To' box type 0.30 (zero dollars and 30 cents).

Fake or Paid-to-Sign Ups Are Strictly Prohibited
Zeekler prohibits any form of fake or paid sign ups. Any representative/member caught using "Paid-to-SignUp" services or entering fraudulent or "fake" registrations (ex. phone book listings, etc) will be subject to all free bids being revoked and a full account review possibly resulting in complete dismissal from the Zeekler/MBS programs and will be permanently banned from referring people for any form of compensation or from bidding on any of our sites.

Free & Discounted Bids
Any and all discounted bid packs purchased or won through 3rd party sites as "loss leaders" offered by the company - are non-commissionable to the referring member and carry no cash value in our "scoop-it" feature during auctions where those bids are used. When you place a bid, the lowest value bid in your account will be used first.

On BidBlink, you can win brand new products and gift cards for up to 99% off retail prices. Like a traditional auction, the last bidder that bids before time runs out, wins. But on BidBlink, each bid lowers the price of the item. To offer this discount, we charge a small fee -- 40¢ per bid -- for each bid placed.

2. Bid on an item

Go to the auctions page to see all the current auctions. Click on the item you are interested in winning to see more details about that auction. Prices typically start at 10% off retail price and go down for each bid placed. The timer will show you how much time remains until the auction ends. Now all you have to do is click the Bid button!

If the time remaining is less than 45 seconds, then every bid placed extends the auction by 15 seconds. This prevents anyone from "sniping" an auction at the last second.

Placing a Single Bid or Auto-Bid will first use any Bonus Bids in your account, followed by bids you purchased.

Choose your bid type:

Single Bid - Click on the "Bid" button to place a single bid and lower the price of the item by 1¢.

Auto-Bid - If you can't watch an auction, you can set your Auto-Bidder to automatically place a bid when someone outbids you. If you set Auto-Bids when there is more than one minute remaining, your Auto-Bids will be locked in and will not become active until the timer has gone below 45 seconds.

When multiple people have auto bids placed at the same time on an auction, each Auto-Bidder will place one bid every few seconds. This allows the Auto-Bidders to battle it out more quickly. If you are new to using the Auto-Bid feature, we recommend placing the minimum amount of Auto-Bids until you get comfortable with how it works.

In NailBiter auctions, only Single Bids can be placed.

Note: You can place more Auto-Bids than you have actual bids in your account. If you run out of actual bids, BidBlink will automatically cancel any remaining Auto-Bids.

Tip: If you click the "Add Auto-Bids" button multiple times you can customize the number of Auto-Bids you want set. For example, select "10 Bids" and click the "Add Auto-Bids" button twice and you'll have 20 Auto-Bids set.

3. When the times runs out, the last bidder wins!

If you're the last bidder when time runs out, you win! After winning, pay the final price plus shipping.

Bids Back!
When you win an auction and the final price is negative, you only pay for shipping. Plus you get one bid back for every 40¢ that the price is less than zero. For example, if the final price is -$4.00 you get 10 bids added to your account.

Nobody loses on BidBlink!
If you don't win the auction, you have 12 hours after it ends to purchase the same item for the retail price minus the value of the bids you placed (discount is 40¢ per bid). Bonus Bids placed cannot be used towards your discount. For example, let's say you placed 20 bids and 5 Bonus Bids on an item that has a retail price of $50.00. Your price is $50.00 minus $8.00 (20 bids x 40¢), for a total of $42 plus shipping and Buy Now fees. The price cannot be discounted to less than $0 and shipping cannot be discounted. There is a Buy Now fee of 7% (up to a maximum of $19.99) of the retail price for all Buy Now opportunities. However, if you Buy Now within 30 minutes of the auction ending, we'll waive the Buy Now fee!

BidBlink

BidBlink was founded by two Silicon Valley veterans in July of 2009. Since then, we've been hard at work at creating the most rewarding and exciting shopping experience possible. We offer the best reverse penny auctions around.

At BidBlink, we aim to provide stellar value on popular products such as the Nintendo Wii, XBoxes, PlayStations, Televisions, Gift Cards, and other top-of-the-line merchandise.

Several things set us apart from the competition

  1. Price goes down, not up. As more people bid, we're able to offer you better deals.
  2. Everybody wins. If you're not the last bidder when time runs out, you can use your investment towards purchasing the product.
  3. We give bids back if the prices drop below $0.00. Nice.
  4. Our bid prices are only 40 cents. That's a great deal compared to prices upwards of one dollar per bid at other sites.

Look at our homepage to see what products are up for auction right now, and if one catches your eye, buy some bids for a low price! When you place a bid, we add a maximum of 10-20 seconds to the timer - to give someone else the chance to bid if they're interested. This is similar to the "Going Once...Twice...SOLD" approach of auctions. If no one else bids and the timer reaches zero, you've won a sweet deal on QuiBids! If you don't win the auction, you never have to go away empty handed. Any time after you've placed your first bid in an auction, you can choose to buy the product for a discount using the Buy It Now feature. This will help limit your losses so you don't have to leave all your bids on the table. You'll never have to pay more than the Value Price for any products on QuiBids.

How We Got Our Start

QuiBids was started in July 2009 by a group of guys interested in making internet auctions more exciting. The company is based out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Our goal as a business is simple--to provide an online auction model that creates excitement and overall better deals to the consumer than any other auction website in existence. With our staff having many years of experience in internet marketing, economics, finance and computer science, we strongly believe we can deliver this to our customers. We strive to keep our costs as low as possible to maximize the number of great deals we can offer at QuiBids.

The Swoopo Guide
HOW SWOOPO WORKS

This guide contains some valuable information about how to bid on Swoopo. We start with a quick overview of Swoopo and then move on to basic and advanced bidding strategies. If you want to learn how to win an auction, then take your time and read all of these points. You won't regret it!

All About Swoopo

What is Swoopo?

Swoopo is one of the world's most innovative auction sites. Every day we sell brand new, top-name products at incredibly low prices. We are the creators of "Entertainment Shopping" on the internet, and one of the first companies to combine e-commerce and entertainment. All of our auctions are buzzing from the first to the last second.

How does Swoopo work?

For a really quick overview of how Swoopo works, take a look at this tutorial video.

To get started, you need to buy some bids. Each bid costs 60 cents and are sold in BidPacks of different sizes. Bidders have the choice of placing single bids or using the BidButler.

Buy Bids

In our standard auction format, each bid placed increases the price of the product by 12 cents and the auction countdown by up to 20 seconds.

Auction Types

Apart from the standard auction on Swoopo, we also have some others which allow you to use different strategies. From Penny Auctions, to NailBiters, you can can see them all in the video below.

The BidButler

Have you tried bidding using a BidButler yet? If not, you're probably missing out on one of the best-kept secrets on Swoopo. BidButlers let you bid even if you’re not sat at your computer. If you need to grab a coffee, the BidButler can bid for you so you don't miss out.

To use it, just tell the BidButler the minimum and maximum price at which you want him to place your bids, as well as the number of bids you're prepared for him to use and he'll do the rest! If there is a BidButler battle between two or more BidButlers, then the time will only ever increase up to a maximum of 2 minutes, regardless of how many bids have been placed.

Watch the video below for a reminder of how it works, and a demonstration of the BidButler in action.

Auction Timers

On Swoopo, the auction time increases with each bid placed. This allows other users the chance to bid, and join in on the fun. Each auction will either have a 10, 15, or 20 second auction time and you can see this on the auction detail page. All auctions start with a 24 hour countdown. As long as the timer is above 2 minutes, no bids placed will add time to the clock. However, once the counter is below 2 minutes, each bid placed will add a maximum of 20 seconds. But, it will never go beyond 2 minutes regardless of how many bids are placed. Check out the video below for more information

How many bids does it take to win?

It's important to understand what it takes to win an auction on Swoopo. A basic rule of thumb is that high value items attract more bidders, and therefore require more bids to win the auction because there's more competition. Now, from time to time everyone will assume this, and you may be able to walk away with a brand new Playstation 3 for just a few bids. Take a look at the example products below, which show the average number of bids to win an auction.

Basic Bidding Strategies

Start small

On Swoopo you’ll see everything from USB sticks, to 42" LCD TVs. Some items are worth $20, some are worth over $1,000. As you can imagine, the more expensive items attract the most bidders, which makes them harder to win. So if you’re new to Swoopo, you should go for one of the cheaper items as you’ll have a greater chance of winning, plus you’ll get to learn how Swoopo really works. It just takes a bit of practice!

Go for a Beginner Auction

A Beginner Auction is only open to bidders who’ve never won before, so this is a great opportunity for you to win your first item! Using all of these tips, and your own bidding strategy, you’ll bag a bargain in no time. And who knows, your next win may be an Apple MacBook or 42” LCD TV!

Take your time

This is very important! First, take your time and understand how Swoopo works. Watch the video, read through this guide, and browse some auctions. You’ll be surprised how much of an advantage you’ll have by following this simple tip. Secondly, once you’ve found an item you want to bid on, just watch the auction for a few minutes. See who’s bidding, and how much they’re bidding. You need to work out the best time to enter the auction so look at the past ended auctions and you’ll get an idea of how many bids are needed, and what price this item normally goes for.

Make sure you have enough time

If you’re about to eat lunch, or take the dog for a walk, don’t start bidding on an auction! Some auctions will end quickly, but some will go on for a few hours. So if you’re serious about winning an item, make sure you have enough time to keep bidding. However, you could set up a BidButler to bid while you’re away from the computer!

Focus on one product at a time

This is by far, the biggest mistake made by new users on Swoopo. We offer so many GREAT products that people do not know what to bid on first. So instead, they place a couple of bids on several items all at the same time. It’s great when someone wins an item with just 1 bid, but it doesn’t happen that often. Instead of bidding on more than one auction at a time, just choose one and stick with it. You will have a much better chance of winning the item if you take this approach.

Scope out the competition

Swoopo is one of the most competitive sites on the internet. So help yourself by taking the time to know who you’re up against. When you’re watching an auction, spend a few minutes and get an idea of who’s bidding, how often they’re bidding and what sort of strategy they’re using. On an auction page you will see the recent bidding history, and how many people have bid in the last 15 minutes.

Bidding History

If you see an auction with lots of recent bidders, it’s probably best to find one with less competition. However, you shouldn’t just rely on the bidders in the last 15 minutes, you need to watch the auction and see how active these users really are.

Bid late, but not TOO late

This is another big mistake made by beginners on Swoopo. If there is an hour left on an auction, don’t bid! This is a golden rule: ONLY BID IN THE LAST 10 SECONDS. You would think that bidding in the last second would be the best approach, but there are a few reasons why this isn’t the case. The main reason is that internet lag may prevent your bid being processed in time. To keep it simple, there are lots of bids placed on Swoopo. We have to process these and perform calculations, update databases, and output the results back to the website, all in a fraction of a second! If a delay occurs anywhere along the way, and you place a bid with just 1 second to go, then your bid may not register, and the auction would end, assuming there are no other bidders. So, to be safe, try and bid when there is at least 3 seconds left on the clock. Alternatively, set a BidButler, as this will never be affected by internet lag.

Don’t be afraid of the BidButler

If you look through the ended auctions on Swoopo, you will see that lots of auctions are won by people using a BidButler. It’s simply because a lot of people love to use it! If you’re bidding on an auction and you spot a scary BidButler, then try not to be put off. You have the advantage because you’re actually watching the auction, and you know what the competition is like. If several single bidders are battling with a BidButler, then sit back and watch. Save your bids, and jump in when the time is right. Remember: just because they’re using a BidButler doesn’t guarantee that they will win the auction. If you really don’t like the BidButler, then lookout for a NailBiter auction, where no BidButlers are allowed.

Don’t be afraid of actually using the BidButler

The BidButler is a powerful tool, if you get the timing right you can scare off other bidders by placing one. Nobody likes to see their bids matched over and over again by your all conquering BidButler, you might just persuade them to give up and try again next time.

On the other hand, some people have a ‘fire and forget’ policy with the BidButler. It is easy to swoop in and win with a quick single bid if your rival has gone to make a cup of coffee safe in the knowledge that their BidButler will protect them. We’ve noticed that users tend to set the ‘Bid To’ value of their BidButlers to a round number, so watch out for this and you might be able to snap up a bargain by simply clicking on the “Bid” button when a BidButler has just finished.

Keep a price limit in mind

It’s easy to get carried away in an auction when you really want something! But, remember that each bid costs you 60 cents. So you have to bear in mind the current auction price, and how many bids you’ve placed. The good news is, with Swoop it Now, even if you don’t win the auction, you can still buy the item minus the cost of your placed bids! So it’s a win-win situation.

Don’t run out of bids

Give yourself a better chance of winning an auction by having lots of bids in your account. For example, instead of buying the Small BidPack, go for the Medium or Large BidPack instead. Not only do you need to make sure you have enough bids in your account before you enter the auction, but also during. You would kick yourself if you were in the middle of a bidding battle, and had to stop and buy some more bids, only to see that the auction ended! You can help prevent this by following some of the earlier tips, like working out when to bid, how long the auction will run for and roughly how many bids it will take to win the item.

Don’t get distracted

If you’re bidding on Swoopo, try not to multitask. Turn off the TV, pause your MP3 player and shut down solitaire. Do whatever it takes to ensure you can really concentrate on an auction!

Tips to reduce bidding/timer lag

We mentioned Internet lag in an earlier bidding tip, which could cause your last second bid not to be registered. On top of that, you may also experience general computer lag, perhaps if you’re running several applications at the same time, or browsing several websites in multiple tabs. Here are some tips to reduce both internet lag, and general computer lag:

Advanced Bidding Strategies

Auction Sniping

In the conventional sense, ‘auction sniping’ is bidding in the final few seconds of an auction. On Swoopo it’s slightly different, because everyone is bidding in the final 10 seconds.

When we refer to auction sniping, it’s about coming into an auction, and winning with just a handful of bids. There are several ways you could do approach this:

Aggressive bidding

Although this is not advanced in terms of complexity, is does require an experienced bidder to be confident enough to pull it off. It is also a risky strategy, so proceed with caution.

First, find an auction with little competition, that is free of any BidButlers (a NailBiter auction is perfect for this). Once you start bidding, try and forget about bidding in the last few seconds. You need to appear as though you have 1,000 bids in your account, and will do anything to win the product. I.e. intimidate the other bidders. As soon as you’re outbid, hit the bid button. Repeat, repeat, repeat. Eventually, the competition will dwindle, and they’ll probably move on to another auction, leaving you to win the auction!

BidButler layering

The BidButler can be a powerful tool, as long as you know the rules, so just to refresh your memory:

The main problem you’ll face when using the BidButler is getting into a bidding battle with another BidButler. If this happens, all your bids will be placed instantly and you’ll lose your footing in the auction.

The concept of BidButler layering is placing just a small number of bids, within a small price range, to test the BidButler competition. This enables you to make a better decision on which bidding strategy to use. If another BidButler kicks in, just watch the auction for a bit longer, and let the single bidders compete against the other BidButler. Repeat this until you’re confident that a BidButler is no longer active.

The ideal scenario is that you see no BidButler competition with your initial test, in which case place the maximum number of bids, and begin to intimidate the newer Swoopo users. This is another technique on how to bully your way to success.

ABOUT SWOOPO.COM

Swoopo - the next generation of online auctions

Founded in Germany in 2005, Swoopo is one of the world’s most innovative auction sites. Based on a unique software solution and business model, the company sells premium products like: computers, cameras, game consoles and even cars, at very low prices. Swoopo auctions over 10,000 products per month and has more than 2,500,000 registered customers.

Here is how it works: our online customers buy “bids” in advance. They cost $0.60 each and are sold in packs of 40, 75, 150, 400 or 1000. Bidders have the choice of placing single bids, or, using an electronic bid assistant called the “BidButler”.

Every bid placed, increases the price of the product by 12c and the auction countdown by up to 20 seconds. To help keep track of the money spent on bidding, each auction displays the amount spent on bids by the customer and how much the bidder would save overall, if they won the auction at that moment.
The ‘last bidder standing’ when the countdown reaches zero, wins the auction – usually at a very low price; winners save, on average, 65% when compared to the recommended retail price.
In December 2007, Swoopo was successfully launched in the UK, followed by Spain in May 2008 and the US and Austria in September 2008. Swoopo has launched Canada in June 2009, more countries are going to be added in the future.
